“Rose Adagio from the ballet Sleeping Beauty is one of the most uplifting, powerfully beautiful, enlightening, regal, and inspiring moments in all of ballet literature. How disappointed I was to discover one day that it wasn’t included in the famous Sleeping Beauty suite arranged for piano by Mikhail Pletnev! And how happy I am that this omission gave me the opportunity to create my own version—one that I miraculously always find the energy to play at the end of my solo and orchestral performances. Simply because it is such gorgeous music, and also because it happens to be in one of my favorite keys: E-flat major”.
